The SAT has gone digital and was administered for the first time on March 11, 2023. What will stay the same is that it will be out of 1600 and also can only be administered in school or test center. The format, however, will have changed slightly as well. The major changes are briefly as follows:
2 hours instead of 3 hours long
Adaptive
Shorter reading passages
Calculators allowed on all math sections
Faster score reporting
The digital version has only been administered outside the United States so far. The timeline is as follows:
| PSAT | International SAT | US SAT |
Spring 2023 | Paper | Digital | Paper |
Fall 2023 | Digital | Digital | Paper |
Spring 2024 | Digital | Digital | Digital |
